Rare Sumatran Tiger hung after being labelled as a shape-shifting creature by villagers

Conservationists in Indonesia have said that villagers in northern Sumatra killed an odd tiger on March 4 after judging the animal to as a shape-shifting force. The system of forest conservationists had made the inhabitants alert of the tiger’s endangered category after incidents of fights between the animal and villagers frequently occurred.

One authorized officer revealed that the endangered creature had been sleeping under a house when neighbouring inhabitants killed it with a javelin. Images revealed the animal’s cadaver was later hung from the ceiling of a community hallway in the northern Sumatran village of Hatupangan.
