Born on October 2, 1942, to a family that had the mother from a different religion, I.e., Muslim and father were Gujarati. She was born in Mumbai and her mother raised her with good values of Sai Baba, she had an early start of her career being a child artist. She faced failure at that young age and then when she gave a re-start she was rejected and a director claimed that she was not a start material. But he was certainly wrong as after getting cast opposite to Shammi Kapoor for the first time she became an overnight star.
She was having a great career being the lead then bhabhi and later on as a mother. She never disappeared from the screen and is still considered as the most versatile actress in the league. She was the first female chairperson of Censor board as well. She had received many awards in her life and even after stopping acting by the end of 1995 still, she got many awards. What was the reason that she never got married? She was considered unapproachable and that stopped many men from making the first move to ask her for marriage.
