Dhirajlal Hirachand Ambani or more popularly known as Dhirubhai Ambani was one of India's top rate entrepreneurs who later turned into successful businessmen and an industrialist who established Reliance Industries in Mumbai (then Bombay). He featured in a list of The Sunday Times top 50 businessmen of Asia. Ambani took Reliance Industries public in 1977 and by 2007 the collective wealth of the household was over $61 billion. Ambani died on 6 July 2002. In 2016, He was posthumously honored with the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian honor for his contributions in trade and industry.

He founded the Reliance Industries Limited in. Reliance Industries is placed along the world's best 500 companies in terms of the capital generation. He also started Reliance Capital and Reliance Power and ruled the textiles, petroleum and its products, power, and infrastructure industries of India. Dhirubhai is viewed as the tycoon of corporate India. He is an inspiration to the young entrepreneurs of India.

No one could have ever make-believe then that this former student of Junagadh's Bahadur Kanji High School, who in 1960s use to live in a one-room shawl owned by local touts in Mumbai with his wife and children, would be ranked 138th-richest person in the world and will have an estimated net worth of around $3 billion in 2002.

The followers of Dhirubhai trait his success primarily to his financial magic, awareness of the surroundings he was operating in, enormous revolutions in marketing and technology, and his unparalleled executioners skills, while other critiques would say that his success is reflection of his exemplary consummate skills with which he could influence  friends and people at correct place. He had a nick to pick just the right people all along his way. Ambani possessed the skills which were critical in bending the laws and rules to his advantage.

On 24 June 2002, Dhirubhai Ambani has suffered a major stroke. It was his second stroke, the first had occurred 16 years ago in 1986; the stroke had paralyzed his right hand. He was in a coma for more than a week and finally met his maker on 6 July 2002
