Dushon Monique who was the actress of Chicago Fire passes away at 49.
DuShon Monique Brown, recognized for her character as Connie, Assistant to Chief Boden, on NBC’s Chicago Fire, died Friday. The Cook County health examiner’s office informs The Chicago Tribune that Brown died soon afternoon at St. James Olympia Field Hospital. A reason for death is not so far identified.
Brown had played the key recurring character since the series launch in 2012. “The Chicago Fire folks are shocked to drop one of its own,” executive producer Dick Wolf said in a statement provided to Deadline. “Our thoughts and prayers are with DuShon’s family and we will all miss her.”
Brown, a Chicago inhabitant, was a longtime drama actor before segueing to TV, having performed at the Goodman, Victory Gardens, Lookingglass, Drury Lane, MPAACT and Pegasus Players in Chicago. Her additional TV work also incorporated guest spots on Empire and Shameless.
In a dialogue last year with the website Hidden Remote, Brown said that when she was the first cast in the character of Connie on Chicago Fire, “my temperament didn’t even have a name. She was a noun. She was Secretary and it was a one-liner. What was thrilling was [I] was auditioning for a Chicago show, but it was also the opportunity that she could perhaps develop into something.”
