Your inherited genes determine your blood group. For example, if your mother has an A antigen in her blood group and father has B, the baby would have AB blood group. In a similar vein, if your father has B antigen and mother also has B antigen, there are chances that the baby would develop BB or a B blood type. On the other hand, if the mother has O blood group and father has B blood group, the baby would have B blood group because O doesn’t possess any antigen.

According to a health magazine named Healthline, it is very difficult to decide which blood group is the rarest blood type on earth, as it is linked to the genetics. It means the blood group which is prevalent in one part of the world may not be available in other parts. For example, AB negative is rarest blood group found in the United States and O positive is the most commonly available blood group.  In India, the most prevalent blood group is B positive and in Denmark, it is A positive. The variations depend upon the place of origin, race to which the person belong and the parents.

But there are certain websites that name Bombay Blood Group as the rarest blood type on earth. The people who carry such type of blood and can accept blood only from Bombay Blood type and not from other individuals having common blood group combination O, AB, B, A, etc. during the process of transfusion. This kind of blood group was discovered in 1952 by Dr. Y.M Bhende in Bombay, hence from there, it derives its name.

RH Null is another blood group that is rarely found among the people. This blood group lacks Rh antigens and people with this type commonly have hemolytic anemia and are at a risk during the process of blood transfusion. Just like O blood group Rh Null blood group also has a life- saving property and is known as a universal donor for anyone who has such blood group. The people with this blood group need to remain a little bit more careful while driving. The children born from such blood group are normal or maybe probe to mild anemia. It is because of all these properties this rarest blood type on earth is also sometimes referred to as Golden blood.
