In India, cricket is no less than a religion, and till date, there is only one cricketer who is worshipped as God of Cricket – Sachin Tendulkar. Whenever he used to come to the crease to bat, entire stadium would boom with sounds of ‘Sachin, Sachin'. Every Indian had blind faith in him. He used to be the hope of all Indians. Whatever the match status be, until the time Sachin Tendulkar was there on the crease, a hope of a winning the match used to remain in heart of every Indian. He remained the threat for almost all the bowlers. People used to forget their differences as well as disputes while watching him play. He became the family member of almost all the Indian families.

In his exuberant career of 24 years, he has won many awards as well as titles. There is the number of records in his name. This includes the highest number of total centuries, the highest number of Man of Match titles, total runs scored in International Cricket, the list is endless.

He started playing cricket at age of 11 and at 14 he played the remarkable inning of 326 in his school match. At age of 15, he played for Bombay and scored a century. At age of 16, he played his first international cricket against Pakistan and became youngest test cricketer of India. During that test series, he got hurt several times but he never gave up.

It was in the year 1990 that he scored his first century against England. In the World Cup of 2003, Sachin won the Man of the tournament for his 673 runs. During his cricket tenure Master Blaster suffered various injuries but he never gave up. He has been an inspiration for young cricketers. In the year 2001, he made a record of 10,000 runs in ODI. This was just the beginning, in the same year he broke the record of highest number of test centuries which was made by great Don Bradman. In World Cup 2003, he scored highest runs and won Man of the Series Honors. In 2008, he broke Brian Lara record of total runs scored in ODI matches. In 2010, he became the first player to score the double century in ODI match and was named as Cricketer of the Year.
Sachin's dream of winning World Cup for his country became reality in World Cup2012. Indian team dedicated the World Cup to Sachin Tendulkar.
In 2013 he took retirement from Cricket. His retirement speech brought tears to the eyes of almost all Indians. For cricket lovers, it was an end of an era. Many people even left watching cricket after Sachin took retirement as for them ‘Cricket is Sachin and Sachin Tendulkar is Cricket'.
In his entire career, he's been awarded various prestigious awards. To name a few: Arjuna Award, Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, Padma Shri, and Padma Vibhushan.
