Kids need a lot of sleep. The Pediatrics advises 9 to 12 hours per night for kids stuck between age 6 and 12, but the miserable truth is that hardly any kids get this much sleep. Family schedules are so hectic, crowded with extracurriculars, screen time, and late work hours, that putting a child to bed at an early on hours often looks impractical.

There are fine reasons, yet, to make this a main concern. Getting an honest sum of sleep has been associated to improved academic routine, enhanced mental health, and lower body weight (BMI). By difference, when sleep is missing, children tend to be more violent and prone to bullying. Teenagers can become desperate.

In an attempt to cheer parents to put their children to bed early on, a 6-year-old who needs to be up by 6:30 a.m. should be in bed by 7:30, while their 8-year-old sibling could stay up till 8 pm if he/she has the same wake time.
