Homecoming has become an annual ritual for most American high schools over last decade. The homecoming event usually involves a football game, but these days homecoming also centers around basketball, hockey, and even soccer games. However, the activities vary from school to school.

Many schools start the homecoming event with a Spirit Week. It starts on Monday and with an objective to encourage students to participate, there’s a new theme every day. Monday could be “wear casuals to school day”, Tuesday could be “crazy hair day”, and Wednesday could be “fancy dress day”. Various competitions and other activities are organized to discover the best spirit among students.

What is Homecoming Pep Rally?

The entire school cheers and encourage their sports team during a homecoming pep rally so that they can beat their competition. Cheerleaders perform and the sports team says few words to acknowledge the support.

What is Homecoming Game all about?

Usually, homecoming centers around football game which are attended by both existing students and alumni. However, some schools also organize a soccer, hockey and even basketball games. The energy remains very high so the pressure on the home team also remains at high levels.

The Homecoming King and Queen are elected and are accompanied by Home Court of Princes and Princesses. To keep the spirit intact, it is made sure that the chosen students are the ones who actively participate in school activities.

Schools organize a homecoming parade where the entire school rally, socialize and make noises for the home team together. Celebrations are at its highest during a homecoming parade.
