The result, taken in advance of the state Assembly election was criticised by the Veerashaiva Lingayat Samanvaya Samiti and termed as a politically provoked move.

Because the Lingayat community is the 21 percent of the total population of the state of the Karnataka and had been playing a major role in the politics of the state.

The Lingayats also recognized as the Veerashaiva community owes closeness to the communal development association of the 12th century initiated by Basaveshwara. After this many other communities are against the nomination of the Lingayats as minority status.
